Justice Department Statement on District Court's Decision in Tunney Act Review of Proposed Settlements in U.S. v. SBC Communications and U.S. v. Verizon Communications

Thomas O. Barnett, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Department's Antitrust Division, made the following statement today after the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued its decision yesterday approving the Department's settlements of the antitrust challenges to SBC's acquisition of AT&T and Verizon's acquisition of MCI:
