LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/30/07 -- Static-X's fifth album, "Cannibal" (Apr. 3, Reprise Records), finds the electronically laced metal band further solidifying their place as one of the genre's pre-eminent artists. Co-produced by Wayne Static and John Travis (Kid Rock), Static says of the new album, "From the recording process to the way it turned out, this record feels old school for us." Static continues, "I think it's the most metal record we've ever made, and it's arguably the heaviest record we've ever made. The last few records found us going in a slightly different direction; this one makes no compromises." Lyrically, Static touches on his personal convictions such as vegetarianism (via the album's title track), but he also makes his first foray into storytelling, exemplified in songs such as "Reptile." A series of behind-the-scenes web clips on the making of "Cannibal" have been released via the band's MySpace page (www.myspace.com/staticx). A computer-based viral video game featuring the band members as, you guessed it, Cannibals (www.warnerbrosrecords.com/cannibal) was also recently made available to fans. A limited edition "Destroyer" EP including two album tracks as well as songs/video from the band's catalogue is available exclusively at Hot Topic. The album's first single, "Destroyer," is receiving early airplay at over two dozen stations including influential active rock stations including Phoenix's KUPD and Detroit's WRIF. Static-X appears on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in June and will be Rockline's guests on May 21.
