TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/29/07 -- Hawk Precious Minerals Inc., (CNQ: HAWK) ("Hawk") is pleased to announce that it has changed its name from "Hawk Precious Minerals Inc." to "Hawk Uranium Inc." This change was previously approved by Hawk's Board of Directors, and was approved by Hawk's shareholders at Hawk's annual meeting of shareholders on February 28, 2007. Hawk has been advised by the CNQ that its trading symbol will not change. The change of name will be effective on the CNQ as of Monday, April 2, 2007.

According to Vance White, Hawk's President and CEO, the change of name is being made to reflect the Company's increasing focus on uranium-related opportunities. "As our uranium exploration activities in Grand Calumet, Quebec intensify, we felt that it was important for the Company's name to reflect its increasing focus on uranium-related prospects. We continue to pursue our other mineral and petroleum and gas interests in Ontario, and will continue to monitor developments in South Africa, but our primary focus is clearly evolving towards uranium prospects", said Mr. White.
