OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/29/07 -- Semiconductor Insights (SI), the leader in technical and patent analyses of integrated circuits and electronic systems today announced that it is starting analyses on Qualcomm's MSM6260 65nm baseband applications processor. "TSMC is the foundry of record for Qualcomm and this device is the first time we've seen TSMC's 65nm logic process in production," stated Jenn Markey, SI's Vice President of Marketing. "Each successive process node applies more pressure to the fabless-foundry model, and migration to 65nm logic process for fabless companies has taken longer than we anticipated."

In January 2006, Intel launched the first 65nm logic device. Over the past year, SI has seen logic devices from most of the IDMs and foundries, with UMC and TSMC recently realizing production lithography 65nm devices. SI has now analyzed 65nm logic devices from Intel, AMD, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, UMC and TSMC.
