OpenLogic Open Source Library Supports Eclipse and JBoss
OpenLogic Adds Stripped-Down Open Source Library
Dec. 17, 2006 10:15 AM
Digg This!
OpenLogic has upped the number of open source projects pre-certified by its flagship OpenLogic Enterprise widgetry from 160 to a round 200 and new versions of about 100 packages it already supported like Eclipse and JBoss have been added. There are also a number of new features to increase OpenLogic's audit and integration capabilities. Stuff like a new web-based Manager for updating, managing and auditing the compliance of open source across an enterprise and APIs for integrating with the existing infrastructure. The start-up is launching a subset of Enterprise too called OpenLogic Enterprise Library Edition that will be sold as a standalone product. It includes all the software in the Enterprise Standard Edition, plus OpenLogic's support and indemnification but not the company's install and other add-on mojo. Obviously some users don't think they need it. Like its brother, Library Edition pricing is based on the number of systems and developers using open source and the number of open source packages a client wants. Figure 25 packages for 50 users will run $50,000. Meanwhile, Enterprise 4.2's new central Manager does things like report which open source packages have been installed and where they are. There is also automated scripting and a new SOAP-based Web Services interface to ease the integration of OpenLogic Enterprise 4.2 with existing processes and systems. Common installation, configuration, integration and uninstall tasks can be automated. LATEST ECLIPSE STORIES . . .
