Eclipse 3.1 Available for Download
Eclipse.org Releases Version 3.1 - Yoxos Eclipse Distribution 2.0 Delivers Numerous Open Source Plugins and Extensions

Digg This!

KARLSRUHE, GERMANY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 06/28/05 -- In coordination with the general release today of Eclipse 3.1, Innoopract announced the release of Yoxos 2.0 a distribution of Eclipse 3.1 and the choice of 168 installable features and plugins.

Eclipse 3.1 introduces several new features such as support of Java 5.0, improvements in performance and a more powerful platform for the development of desktop applications (Eclipse RCP). The Eclipse SDK can be downloaded immediately at http://eclipse.org/downloads/.

With Eclipse's enhanced coverage of the software development lifecycle more and more projects are contributing to the success of Eclipse, greatly increasing the number of installable features. With Yoxos the otherwise challenging and time-consuming process of getting the right mix of features and plugins is reduced to just a few clicks.

Extending and Updating Eclipse

Developers can start the Yoxos Install Manager from a browser and instantly begin selecting plugins for installation that have undergone quality and compatibility testing. Plugins are organized by development tasks, are accompanied by descriptions, download size, links and license information and are automatically checked for dependencies. Installation occurs with a single click and the Eclipse environment is ready to go with all the latest code.

"The main advantage to Yoxos for developers is that we have taken a lot of hard work out of the process of extending an Eclipse installation and keeping it updated," says Jochen Krause, President of Innoopract. "With Yoxos it is possible for developers to work with the latest software regardless of the release cycle or naming conventions and still be able to update the software from a single source with the reassurance that the updates have been tested on the latest version of Eclipse."

Free Community Edition -- Evaluation Made Simple

Yoxos can be started and used directly from the Yoxos home page by selecting the "Launch Yoxos Free Community Edition" (requires Java Web Start). This allows the customer to use the Yoxos Install Manager to extend Eclipse 3.1 installations with dozens of open source Plugins (e.g. Web Tools, EMF, GEF) at no charge without having to register. To take advantage of the full set of plugins and to keep them updated, customers can upgrade to a three-month or a 12-month subscription. Subscribers will have access to the Community Edition plugins plus a large set of third party and Eclipse plugins and features which will be updated on a bi-weekly basis.

Price and Availability

The Yoxos Eclipse Distribution 2.0 is available immediately. A three month subscription costs $29 and a 12 month subscription costs $99. Subscribers are entitled to all updates during the subscription period. 12-month annual CD subscriptions are available for $119. CD subscribers will receive at least six updates per year. A single CD is also available for $19.95. The price for Yoxos Enterprise Solutions depends on volume and options such as custom plugins, personalized install manager and extended support and maintenance.
