In a previous article I stated that we really do live in a Mobile World, which is driven by the latest and greatest Smartphone’s around, and for those Enterprise Mobile Device users, it seems that PIM (Personal Information Management) is key. This PIM data is made up of Contact, Calendars & E-Mail and it is a cool co-incidence that yesterday, after I wrote & posted my article, Gartner placed Sybase in the Leaders Quadrant of its 'Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Wireless E-Mail Software, May 2009'. Good news indeed!
In addition to the above, Sybase’s iAnywhere Mobile Office was covered in another Gartner research note titled, 'Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Wireless E-mail Software'. For those of you that are not aware, iAnywhere Mobile Office is a solution for secure mobile email and business process mobilization. It combines infrastructure support with on-device security, usability and performance. It is a solution that support Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange enterprise e-mail systems out to a wide range of devices including iPhone, Windows Mobile and Symbian. If you are interested you can find more about Mobile Office here.
Sybase iAnywhere's President, Terry Stepien, said.. “We are pleased to be recognized again by Gartner in the Leaders quadrant for Enterprise Wireless E-Mail Software, With so many consumer-driven mobile devices entering the enterprise, IT is now forced to extend mobile applications, such as e-mail, to a wide range of mobile platforms and devices. In my opinion, this latest report from Gartner further validates Sybase’s ability to help enterprises overcome challenges in developing, integrating, securing, and managing corporate wireless email solutions.”
The Magic Quadrant is a graphical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It is intended solely as a research tool, and is not meant to be a specific guide to action. It depicts Gartner’s analysis of how certain vendors measure against criteria for that marketplace, as defined by Gartner. Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product or service depicted in the Magic Quadrant, and does not advise technology users to select only those vendors placed in the “Leaders” quadrant.
I am not surprised that Sybase & iAnywhere have had these accolades awarded. Why? Well Sybase, just like any company, has various degrees of mobile workers and many different devices in our Enterprise, that all work seamlessly, every day, using our own technologies.
