"This week we exhibited at SYS-CON's Cloud Computing Expo in NYC. I was impressed with the turnout and as usual the SYS-CON team put on a great show. More and more we are seeing the larger enterprise’s embrace cloud storage and this show was no exception. Enterprise attendees ranged from finance to pharma backgrounds all looking to better understand this new wave of technology and how it can be used to streamline operations and reduce costs."

"I spent two days at the Cloud Computing Expo in NYC this past week and want to share my thoughts on the state of the cloud. ... David Linthicum is one of the few people on the cloud computing speaking circuit who is making sense. ...Dave’s advice is the best that I have come across out there. It is all about architecture and the cloud is just another tool in the toolbox."

"SYS-CON's Cloud Computing Boot Camp - I have to say, for a conference, this was the best session I have ever attended. Completely vendor neutral, and full of deep technical details, without the spin, of what the Cloud really is."

"Spoke at 7PM this evening, at the end of a long day of presentations at the Cloud Computing Expo. I was a little afraid of a 7PM speaking slot because I thought people would rather be at the bar rather than listen to me talk. Boy, was I wrong. Apparently, people were standing in the hallway. Had I noticed, I certainly would have rearranged furniture to get more people in - even if it meant more people sitting on the floor!"

"Customers need to be skeptical, particularly when they are considering sending critical data and applications to cloud providers, says David Snead, an attorney who spoke about legal issues related to virtualization and cloud computing at Sys-Con's Cloud Computing Conference & Expo in New York City last week. Companies such as Amazon do have downtime, and service-level agreements may not guarantee severe penalties, he said."

"In a tersely worded statement [released at Cloud Computing Expo] that reminds us of something coming out of a Cold War summit on a battleship, IBM and Microsoft (along with Intel and Cisco) agreed in principle to the idea that "interoperability" - IBM's desire to see different clouds work together - is as a good thing. They also said that cloud computing should have its own trade association or marketing group to work towards those ends, and that everyone should be invited."
