Quest Software Discloses Product Integration Roadmap for Windows Management Offerings
Combination of Quest and NetPro Provides the Most Comprehensive and Best-in-class Set of Windows Management Solutions in the Market

The dominance of the Windows platform makes the efficient management of the Windows environment a top priority for IT professionals. Following the recent acquisition of NetPro Computing, Inc., Quest Software (Nasdaq: QSFT) today unveiled a product integration plan that brings together the products and expertise of both organizations to offer comprehensive, best-of-breed products for managing Windows, Active Directory, Exchange Server, SharePoint and SQL Server. Key decisions and integration strategies are outlined in a white paper available on www.quest.com.

Post-acquisition integration is never easy, said Steve Dickson, senior vice president of product management and marketing, Quest Software. We, therefore, spent a great deal of time and effort in rationalizing the combined product lineup, and wanted to ensure that significant mission-critical capabilities were maintained. We sought to retain the best product functionality for each customer pain, and to carefully consider the impact on our customers before we elected to discontinue a product.

Since the Windows infrastructure forms the foundation upon which applications, networks, messaging systems and desktops rely, Quest focused on the products that keep the Windows environment secure and available. Decisions on the product roadmap were made in the following key areas:

  • Active Directory: Quest will move forward with several NetPro products, providing superior auditing and reporting, efficiency, and availability.
  • Identity Management: Quest will expand its leadership position by continuing to develop key NetPro products for identity management and compliance.
  • Compliance: Quest will enhance its robust portfolio with key NetPro products to provide better visibility, auditing and alerting, and change prevention.
  • Exchange Server: Quest will integrate the best features from NetPros Exchange Server products and technologies into the existing Quest product line.
  • SharePoint: NetPros early SharePoint development efforts will be integrated into the development of upcoming Quest products that support SharePoint.

Product support for discontinued products will continue through the end of 2009. In cases where Quest has made the decision to end the sales and development of a product, customers on current maintenance contracts will receive the go-forward product at no additional license cost.

What is good news for NetPro and their customers is that they have gone into a very reputable fold, said Scott Crawford, research director, Security and Risk Management, Enterprise Management Associates. The fact that Quest intends to go out of its way to assure customers of both companies going forward should be viewed in the favorable light of Quests very positive track record in acquisition integration.

Quest also plans to continue and expand The Experts Conference (TEC), an annual event founded by NetPro that features top experts in directory and identity management as well as Exchange Server. The conference fits well into Quests existing focus on community and expertise, and provides Quest with additional opportunities to interact with new and existing customers. TEC 2009 will be held March 22-25, 2009, in Las Vegas, and September 14-16, 2009, in Berlin, Germany.
