Embarcadero Releases Free, Professional-Grade Business Process Modeling Tool

EA/Studio Built on Eclipse Framework

Embarcadero is continuing its support of the Eclipse community with its release of EA/Studio Community Edition, a free business process modeling (BPM) tool. This tool represents the third database tool built by Embarcadero on the Eclipse framework.

"Embarcadero's release of EA/Studio Community Edition expresses the company's continued endorsement of Eclipse-based software," said Mike Milinkovich, executive director, Eclipse Foundation. "We're pleased to see Embarcadero bring its expertise in commercial database tools to the Eclipse community. This new offering underscores the increased productivity and flexibility that can be achieved by leveraging the Eclipse platform with first-class software like Embarcadero's database tools."

This professional-grade tool enables business process modelers and database architects to engage in more productive and efficient enterprise architecture modeling, including documenting business processes for regulatory compliance purposes. EA/Studio Community Edition supports XML and the business process modeling notation (BPMN), includes standard process modeling elements, and offers the ability to easily import Visio diagrams. Conceptual, process and data models can be shared between EA/Studio and ER/Studio, Embarcadero's flagship data modeling tool.

When additional functionality is required, users can upgrade to the commercial version of EA/Studio, which includes conceptual modeling, impact analysis and usage reporting. Users of both EA/Studio Community Edition and the commercial version of EA/Studio can seamlessly collaborate and share files between the two versions.

"Embarcadero is committed to providing professional-grade database tools that are easily accessible to businesses of all sizes and all stages of growth," said Greg Davoll, vice president of worldwide marketing, Embarcadero Technologies. "We will continue to work closely with the Eclipse Foundation to develop specifications that will broaden the usability and global acceptance of this framework."
