Eclipse and IBM WebSphere Environments Gaining Desktop Integration

A solution called MKS Integrity Manager helps things along

MKS is putting onto developers' desktops the company's enterprise-grade software configuration management (SCM) solution, MKS Integrity Manager 4.6. The move is part of an effort on behalf of MKS to integrate Eclipse (2.1, 2.1.1, 3.0) and IBM WebSphere Studio development environments, including WSAD, WSSD and WDSc for iSeries (5.1 and later). Integrity Manager will work across distributed, mainframe, and iSeries platforms.

Other SCM providers enable developers working within Eclipse and IBM WebSphere to access basic SCM features. MKS, however, is the first vendor extending such inventive process management support in this environment. Developers can now receive tasks, run and review queries, and update while remaining all the while inside their integrated development environment (IDE).

The MKS "WorkTray" links-up sanctioned development tasks and software changes. This ensures that development work can be traced from any point. Allowing for this type of history helps with compliance efforts and enables IT departments to follow through with comprehensive auditing.

Elaborating on how IT departments will benefit from MKS Integrity Manager, David Martin, MKS vice president, Product Management, said, "IT organizations who have a strategic investment in Eclipse or IBM WebSphere development environments, and who are seeking to reach higher levels of process maturity or comply with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, will be delighted with this new capability."

He further added, "MKS, with its 'Ready for WebSphere' certification, already offers one of the most robust SCM integrations on the market today. Now, with our integrated workflow capabilities, developers can follow prescribed process with ease. In turn, project managers can trust that development work is properly resourced, and have immediate visibility through MKS Integrity Manager of work assignments and progress. We are proud to continue our track record of innovation and support for Eclipse and the IBM WebSphere development suite."

MKS announced two upcoming Webinars, scheduled for September 15 and 16, 2004, demonstrating the integration between MKS Integrity Manager, Eclipse and IBM WebSphere. "Managing Eclipse and WebSphere Development More Effectively with the New MKS WorkTray," is for the benefit of Eclipse, WSAD and WSSD users. "Managing iSeries and Multi-Platform Development More Effectively with the New MKS Worktray for IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client," is to benefit WDSc for iSeries users. Registration is free, with those interested in attending encouraged to register and learn more by visiting MKS's homepage, http://www.mks.com for details and free registration.
