PARIS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/18/07 -- Thomson Plays a Key Role for this Summer Season
Record-Breaking Motion Pictures
- Thomson provided a full-range of digital and physical services for several blockbusters, such as DreamWorks''Shrek the Third', Pixar's 'Ratatouille', 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', and 'Ocean's 13'
- Thomson also supported prominent Summer and Fall independent features, such as 'My Blueberry Nights' for Director Wong Kar Wai or 'Sicko' for Director Michael Moore
Paris, France and Burbank, Calif. (United States) -- July 18, 2007 -- Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453; NYSE: TMS) has provided a full range of digital and laboratory services for many of this summer's most highly touted films, under its Technicolor brand. At the same time, Thomson continues to lead industry support for independently produced features directed by many of the industry's greats and emerging talents alike.

A Full-Array of Digital Services for Blockbusters and Independent Features
Thomson provided a full array of Digital Intermediates (DI) and finishing services from its facilities in California to many of the most highly anticipated summer titles. The Group's facility on the Sony Studios lot in Culver city produced a 4k DI on Spider-Man 3 and a 2k DI for Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer. The Burbank facility provided the DI and digital cinema mastering for many of the year's most highly anticipated animated features including Shrek the Third; The Simpson's Movie, and the upcoming Beowulf and Bee Movie.
Thomson also provided its DI services for the independently produced features, such as director Wong Kar Wai's My Blueberry Nights, which was shown at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival this year.
Thomson worked on director Michael Moore's Sicko; The Darjeeling Limited, for director Wes Anderson; Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones' documentary, Shine a Light; director/writer Alan Ball's Nothing is Private; Sidney Lumet's Before the Devil Knows You're Dead; director Allison Eastwood's Rails and Ties; and director Tony Gilroy's Michael Clayton.
Digital Cinema: mastering, distribution and 3D services
Thomson handled the digital cinema mastering for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Transformers, Knocked Up, Ratatouille, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Evan Almighty. It has digitally distributed Shrek the Third, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and Sicko for Michael Moore.
Additionally, Thomson kicked off the summer by handling the digital cinema distribution for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End to approximately 1,500 screens worldwide, and 1,000 screens in the United States. The Group has managed the digital cinema mastering, satellite and physical distribution for Transformers by Michael Bay as well.
Leading the way in support services for 3-D theatrical releases, Thomson has touched nearly every major release in the last three years. These features include Monster House; Chicken Little; Nightmare on Elm Street 3- D; and Meet the Robinsons. Thomson also provided services to the recent Cannes Film Festival premieres in 3-D features: U2 3D and Scar. Thomson has recently expanded its tool set to include digital color-grading and digital mastering for 3-D theatrical features.
Thomson also produced the recent Large Format version of Spider-Man 3 and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Laboratory Services for this Season's Record-Volumes Titles
In the first weeks of the summer season, Thomson has produced record- volumes of theatrical release prints for such titles as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End; Shrek the Third; and Knocked Up. The Group also produced theatrical release prints for the recent Steven Soderbergh feature, Ocean's Thirteen; Pixar's latest, Ratatouille; director Michael Moore's Sicko; and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Upcoming features include: I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry; and The Bourne Ultimatum.
