CodeGear is offering a free download that enables developers to "learn about the Eclipse-based IDE that dramatically speeds and simplifies development for Java, open source, and the Web," according to CodeGear VP David Intersimone. The free "Development Acceleration Pack" instructs developers as to how Eclipse-based JBuilder 2007 "lets you develop your software, your way—a lot more quickly and easily. All while preserving your access to the latest and best open source tools and plug-ins," according to a letter from Intersimone to developers. Advantages outlined by Intersimone include:
* Graphical EJB Workbench, which "provides a simplified RAD development experience for both novice and experienced JEE developers alike."
* Complete performance tuning with Optimizeit 2007 for Eclipse—delivering memory and CPU profiling, advanced debugging, and high-level, real-time data that traces performance issues to CPU, memory, or both.
Developers can "target and re-target app servers from all of the major commercial OSS vendors including IBM, BEA, Sun, JBoss, and Apache," according to Intersimone, and also learn about "additional pace-quickening tools too numerous to mention here.
The download is available now.

I found no "free software" at the linked URL. I only found a bunch of presumably marketing-oriented videos and a 30-day demo download of JBuilder. Talk about the ol' bait-and-switch. |
