OVERLAND PARK, Kan., March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Meridian IQ, a wholly owned subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc. , recently announced that Roland Chong has been named Managing Director, Asia. In his new role, Mr. Chong will be responsible for all Meridian IQ activities throughout Asia. He also will oversee the China forwarding venture between JHJ International Transportation Co., Ltd. and Meridian IQ, China, through his position on this venture's Board of Directors.
Meridian IQ has a presence in 12 countries in Asia, including China. According to Bill Zollars, Chairman, President and CEO of YRC Worldwide, the company's strategic focus in China is to build end-to-end transportation and logistics solutions that provide visibility throughout the supply chain.
Mr. Chong will report directly to Jim Ritchie, President and CEO, Meridian IQ. Mr. Chong joined the organization in April 2006 as senior vice president, logistics for Meridian IQ, Asia, with significant experience in both logistics and freight forwarding. Over the past nine months, Mr. Chong has built a team to support world-class logistics processes and to prepare the organization in China for accelerated growth. He will continue to build on his successes in this new role.

Before joining Meridian IQ, Mr. Chong worked with companies including Exel, Kyocera, AT&T, and Crown Pacific. He holds a Master of Business and Administration degree from Newport University in California. Mr. Chong is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK (FCILT), a committee member of China International Forwarding Association (CIFA), and a Committee member of China Customs Broker Association (CCBA). He also serves as Economic Consultant and Advisor for the Chinese Government in the Tianjin Airport Industrial Park Administration, Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Administration, and Shanghai North Bund Freight Development Committee.
