MEDIA ADVISORY: LA/Ontario International Airport to Practice Emergency Response in Full-Scale Air Exercise
MEDIA ADVISORY: LA/Ontario International Airport to Practice Emergency Response in Full-Scale Air Exercise

ONTARIO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/29/07 --

WHAT: Air Exercise (AIREX) 2007 is an unrehearsed, full-scale aircraft
incident drill designed to test LA/Ontario International Airport's
(ONT) Emergency Plan. This exercise is required under Federal
Aviation Administration regulations to be conducted at least once
every three years to evaluate the operational capability of the
airport's emergency management system in a real-time, stress
      environment.

WHO: Approximately 100 participants from the LA/Ontario International
      Airport Rescue and Firefighting Department; ONT Airfield Operations;
ONT Airport Police; Ontario City Fire Department; federal aviation
and law enforcement agencies; American Red Cross; local area hospital
emergency rooms, medical units, and ambulance services; other
mutual-aid organizations; Southwest Airlines emergency response
teams; and Los Angeles World Airports divisions including
construction and maintenance, public relations, ground
transportation, and risk management. Over 50 volunteers will play
the role of injured "victims." Additionally, representatives from
the airport-wide community, and from other airports, are expected to
      observe the full-scale exercise.

WHEN: Wednesday, April 4, 2007
Media briefing at 9:15 a.m. at Terminal 1 lobby.
Air exercise simulation scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
ONT Airport Operations representative will provide
        real-time explanation of response.

WHERE: Air exercise site is on restricted airfield on the west side of the
airport in an area established to simulate an active runway and
        taxiway aircraft movement area.

MEDIA PARKING: No media vehicles will be allowed to access the restricted
airfield. Please park all media vehicles in Lot F across
the street from Terminal 1. Parking will be validated.

VISUALS: 1. Firefighting units, ambulances, airport operations and
law enforcement vehicles respond to scene.

           2. Over 50 "victims" in make-up will role-play injuries,
              including fatalities.

           3. Medical triage on scene.

           4. Injured dispatched by ambulance and helicopter.

           5. Airline assistance to family and friends, as well as
              grief counseling.

MEDIA: Due to airfield security restrictions all media MUST check-in and
wear special identification tags while on the tarmac area.

MEDIA CREDENTIALS: Media credentials will be honored.

Media must be escorted INTO the incident site during the
emergency response in order to view activities close-up
at the Incident Command Post, patient triage, medical
evacuation by ambulance and helicopter, airline's family
assistance, and other areas that may develop during the
          course of the exercise.
