Welocalize Deploys a Moses-Based Statistical Machine Translation Engine as Part of weMT Solution

FREDERICK, MD -- (Marketwired) -- 08/05/14 -- Welocalize, global leader in innovative translation and localization solutions, announced they were expanding their enterprise machine translation (MT) service portfolio, weMT, by developing and deploying an internal adaption of Moses using proprietary components and components from Precision Translation Tools DoMT Server™ to build the solution.

Moses is an open-source software toolkit used for creating statistical based machine translation (SMT) systems. It is the oldest and most widely used open-source SMT toolkit available.

Welocalize developed weMT Moses to use as part of Welocalize's enterprise weMT solution suite, demonstrating the company's commitment to providing MT as an integral part of any enterprise-scale localization program.

"Welocalize wanted to have our own MT solution to be able to have full control of an MT engine with limitless ability to customize and drive top-notch MT programs for our enterprise clients," said Olga Beregovaya, vice president of language tools at Welocalize. "We have integrated the Moses-based server engine into the Welocalize workflow with all the other MT engines we use for our enterprise programs, all driven through our open-source translation management system (TMS), GlobalSight or our integration middleware Welocalize Dispatcher."

Welocalize chose to collaborate with PTTools to augment and build the MT solution due to the simplicity of DoMT Server's extensible development environment. DoMT includes all the necessary tools to acquire, prepare and manage SMT training corpora, as well as train, tune and manage SMT models and deploy and use translation engines for SMT production.

"We will deploy the weMT Moses technology for select MT programs when it is the appropriate fit for our client's translation and localization requirements," said Olga Beregovaya. "This MT approach will deliver maximum gains to the client as part of their overall localization strategy."
