WP Engine, a leading SaaS content management platform for websites and applications built on WordPress, today announced the appointment of Klee Kleber as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). With more than 20 years of marketing and leadership experience, Kleber has previously served as SVP, Marketing and Product Development at Rackspace as well as VP Marketing at Dell. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome Klee to WP Engine as we continue to recruit the best and brightest candidates to our burgeoning team,” said Heather Brunner, CEO, WP Engine. “Klee’s proven leadership of marketing teams through years of hypergrowth and market change makes him the perfect fit to take WP Engine to the next level.”

Kleber joined Rackspace, the Open Cloud Company, seven years ago to run marketing during a major rebranding effort and IPO. He led the company’s entrance into the private cloud market and helped expand its private cloud customer base from just a handful to one of the company’s principal sources of growth.

At Dell, Kleber led multiple marketing functions for its notebook line, from inception to first place market share 10 years later. He also launched Dell’s e-commerce business in Japan and established the company’s SMB business in Germany. Kleber also worked at Segway where he helped establish the personal transporter in multiple market segments, including police, security, tour operations and consumer markets.

“WordPress powers 23% of the Internet today and that footprint is continuing to increase,” said Kleber. “Working closely with the open source community, especially with the recent launch of WP Engine Labs, WP Engine is leading the charge in WordPress innovation with its platform powering 130,000 websites. I’m excited to join the company at such an important time in its development.”
