Frost & Sullivan Names Denodo Technologies Winner Of 2013 New Product Innovation Leadership Award Winner For Its Data Virtualization Platform

- Denodo Data Virtualization Platform Helps Integrate and Deliver Accurate Data Faster, and With Unrivaled Performance

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the data virtualization platforms market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Denodo Technologies with the 2013 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation Leadership. Denodo's integrated data virtualization platform is capable of integrating diverse data and unstructured information and delivering real-time business information in easily interpreted data services formats for applications, business intelligence tools and directly to end users. Several innovations in the Denodo Platform enable broad data acquisition, scalable high performance, flexible transformation and agile delivery of data services. Frost & Sullivan's award report can be downloaded at www.denodo.com and is also available to Frost customers on our website.

Denodo provides several connectors to discover and acquire structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from a diverse set of sources, including enterprise applications, databases, big data, Web data, cloud, social media and unstructured documents. The Denodo platform preserves the native format of the data, including both relational and non-relational, unlike competing solutions that flatten data into relational formats and re-convert into the source format when needed. The Denodo platform's strong core is also able to store the data's source format.

Data virtualization exposes these sources as virtual data objects that create additional virtual data services by transforming and combining them in real-time, with several query optimization, in-memory and caching techniques, in addition leveraging built-in and external batch integration and data quality tools. Another noteworthy innovation in the Denodo data virtualization platform is its ability to publish data in various formats, such as customized SQL views, Web services and widgets. The unique RESTful linked data services delivery format allows users to search or browse data assets the way they would browse the Web, and then switch over to a familiar query paradigm.

"The key highlight of Denodo's technology is its RESTful linked data services that facilitate the connected agile development of applications for cloud, mobile, and Web users," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Debarun Guha Thakurta. "The Representational State Transfer (REST)-compliant application programming interface is capable of exposing data assets as a unique, uniform resource identifier, which can be accessed through queries, search and browsing, and by utilizing standard interfaces, Web protocols and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) verbs. This is offered in addition to other more traditional formats such as Structured Query Language (SQL) and Web services for Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)."

The Denodo Platform is an independent integration server that runs several server components on any hardware or operating system that is capable of running Java Runtime Environment (JRE)-based applications. Additionally, it provides several design-time and web-based tools for modeling, monitoring and governing data services. It is also equipped with a set of open-source components such as Apache Tomcat, Apache Derby and Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The system's innovative virtual data layer is capable of establishing strong data relationships and transformations; it uses an integrated execution and modeling environment to normalize and transform data and deliver information to other systems or users.

The Denodo Platform also enables automatic query optimization capabilities by virtue of latency balancing, transparent manual control, and modular clustered scalability. The solution offers minimal replication of data, which saves development and processing time as well as effort. For developers, the solution eliminates the task of developing codes to publish virtual databases and Web services.

The agile processing and delivery of valuable insights, through analytics, equips enterprises with real-time information, which facilitates successful decision-making. This, in turn, helps organizations respond, in real time, to rapidly changing business scenarios.

The return on investment from the Denodo Platform is rapid, as it is a fully automated solution. Apart from the huge savings on training, the platform's superior efficiency helps reduce the workforce considerably, compared to traditional systems that rely on manual operation. The Denodo data virtualization platform also provides 60 percent faster access to data and time required to make changes. This helps enterprises respond to changing scenarios with optimum agility.

"With enterprises still finding it challenging to easily handle and integrate enormous volumes and highly complex data for different application areas, the Denodo data virtualization platform has emerged as a vital tool," noted Debarun. "Denodo Technologies keenly focuses on delivering best-in-class solutions, making it the solution of choice among enterprises across the data virtualization space."

Eighty percent of a data scientist’s time is spent gathering and cleaning up data, and 80% of all data is unstructured and almost never analyzed. Cognitive computing, in combination with Big Data, is changing the equation by creating data reservoirs and using natural language processing to enable analysis of unstructured data sources. This is impacting every aspect of the analytics profession from how data is mined (and by whom) to how it is delivered. This is not some futuristic vision: it's ha...
WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong.

For manufacturers, the Internet of Things (IoT) represents a jumping-off point for innovation, jobs, and revenue creation. But to adequately seize the opportunity, manufacturers must design devices that are interconnected, can continually sense their environment and process huge amounts of data. As a first step, manufacturers must embrace a new product development ecosystem in order to support these products.
Manufacturing connected IoT versions of traditional products requires more than multiple deep technology skills. It also requires a shift in mindset, to realize that connected, sensor-enabled “things” act more like services than what we usually think of as products. In his session at @ThingsExpo, David Friedman, CEO and co-founder of Ayla Networks, discussed how when sensors start generating detailed real-world data about products and how they’re being used, smart manufacturers can use the dat...
When it comes to IoT in the enterprise, namely the commercial building and hospitality markets, a benefit not getting the attention it deserves is energy efficiency, and IoT’s direct impact on a cleaner, greener environment when installed in smart buildings. Until now clean technology was offered piecemeal and led with point solutions that require significant systems integration to orchestrate and deploy. There didn't exist a 'top down' approach that can manage and monitor the way a Smart Buildi...
