A defining characteristic of Dutch culture is the creativity and ingenuity that seems to be embedded in the national DNA. You can find it expressed through art, science, technology, architecture, design and more. Whether it is a Rembrandt painting, satellite controlled flood prevention technology, or sustainable living solutions, Dutch innovation is often characterized by its open and humanistic yet rigorously scientific and pragmatic approach.

"By curating a wide variety of Dutch Innovations from Blender, the open source 3D computer graphics software, to Windworks, a fully automated wind-mill powered furniture factory, and several sustainable innovations, we want to portray the bubbling entrepreneurial climate in Holland" said Roger Kleinenberg, Innovation Counselor at the Netherlands Embassy. "The overarching theme is an optimistic ambition that the future can be made better by applying creativity and knowledge."

Together, the DailyDutchInnovation.com campaign website and the Dutch Masterpieces on view at the Frick illustrate how creativity and innovation aren't just hyped up concepts but fundamentally embedded in Dutch culture.

IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
