According to a study on the Brazilian mobile phone market released by IDC, smartphone sales grew 78 percent in 2012 compared with the previous year. A total of 16 million smartphones were sold in the country, compared with 9 million handsets in 2011. Read Original Content

According to ABI total mobile data traffic had amounted to 13,412 petabytes by the end of 2012, an increase of 69 percent year-on-year. 3G data usage occupied 46 percent of the total with an increase of 130 percent year-on-year. 4G LTE traffic is accelerating, with a growth rate of 207 percent in 2013 compared to 99 percent for 3G traffic.
