HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, and Integrics, a software engineering company providing telecommunications software to customers worldwide, today announced Digium's IP phones now support automatic provisioning with Integrics Enswitch, a soft-switch for commercial carrier-grade telephony services built on top of Asterisk. The interoperability of the phones with Enswitch reduces the time and effort required to deploy large numbers of handsets for customers.
Enswitch is a highly powerful, scalable and flexible solution for commercial telephony services, such as full-featured, multi-tenant hosted PBX, Internet Telephone Service Provider (ITSP) services, toll-free and number translation services, calling cards and call shops. Used by carriers around the world, Enswitch supports hundreds of thousands of users and tens of thousands of concurrent calls on a redundant cluster. Integration and extensive testing ensures that Digium's D70, D50 and D40 phones work seamlessly with Enswitch.
The Digium phones are specifically engineered to fully leverage the power of Asterisk, the world's most widely adopted open source communications software, and Switchvox, Digium's award-winning Unified Communications (UC) system. Business customers using Digium IP phones benefit from the best possible performance, unprecedented integration and a feature-rich, customizable phone system.
"Enswitch is designed to offer a wide range of commercial telephony services in a single, integrated phone system," said Alistair Cunningham, founder and general manager, Integrics. "We were able to integrate Enswitch with the Digium phones without any difficulty and the primary advantage is the ability to quickly and easily roll out thousands of phones. It could be time consuming if you had to configure each phone manually."
System owners, resellers and end customers can automatically provision the Digium IP phones from within the Enswitch web interface or via the SOAP API. After a user enters the Enswitch server address into the phone and the phone's MAC address into the Enswitch server, the phone automatically downloads the proper configuration and contacts via HTTP. Additionally, each Enswitch system owner can create and edit custom provisioning templates and choose which template applies to each phone.
"The ability to develop real custom applications on the Digium phones in JavaScript allows service providers to easily integrate their back-end web and switch services with an end user's phone," said David Hardy, director of business development for Digium. "This provides service differentiation for customers like Integrics, while increasing functionality and productivity."
