SAN MATEO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/25/13 -- DataStax, the company that powers the big data apps that transform business, today announced the latest independent benchmark test confirming what previous tests had shown -- Cassandra outperforms its NoSQL competitors by a wide margin. The tests demonstrate that Cassandra provides an exceptional level of performance and scalability when handling large workloads in real-time environments.
After engineers at the University of Toronto conducted a 2012 benchmark finding Apache Cassandra the "clear winner throughout our experiments,"(1) End Point Corporation, a database and open source consulting company, benchmarked three of the most popular NoSQL databases -- Apache Cassandra, Apache HBase, and MongoDB. In operations-per-second/throughput, Cassandra outperformed both HBase and MongoDB across all node configurations (1 to 32 nodes), with latency metrics for Cassandra proving to be the lowest across all workloads.
"Cassandra is the most widely deployed scalable database, with more than 1,000 production deployments today and significant adoption in mission-critical use cases," said Jonathan Ellis, project chair of Apache Cassandra and DataStax co-founder. "These latest benchmarks demonstrate why the market is rapidly choosing Cassandra for big data."
