'Bob Dole on Medicare' Campaign Launches Podcast to Educate Medicare Beneficiaries and Caregivers

Podcast Advises Seniors on Top Ten Things They Need to Know About Medicare's Prescription Drug Coverage Before 2007 Enrollment

WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- With the start of enrollment for Medicare prescription drug coverage in 2007 quickly approaching, former Senator Bob Dole announced today the launch of a Medicare podcast to educate beneficiaries and their caregivers about the enrollment process. The weekly podcast, titled Ten Things Seniors Need to Know about Medicare's Drug Coverage, provides seniors and people living with disabilities an important source of information about the drug benefit prior to the 2007 enrollment period, beginning on November 15, 2006. The podcast can be found on Senator Dole's Medicare campaign Web site, http://www.bobdoleonmedicare.com/, as well as on iTunes and other podcast directories.

"With a little over three months until the start of the sign-up period, now is the time for seniors to learn about their options and decide if they want to enroll," said Senator Dole. "Seniors need to look at their current prescription drug coverage and determine if they could save more money by switching to Medicare's program. Those currently enrolled in a Medicare drug plan should assess whether they can get better coverage by switching to a different plan."

With 38 out of 43 million eligible Medicare beneficiaries now receiving drug coverage, first year enrollment far surpassed the expectations of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Senator Dole is optimistic about enrollment as the second year of the program draws near. "If seniors learn and examine their options before the enrollment period begins, which this podcast will help them do, we'll experience another successful sign-up period," said Dole.

Joining Senator Dole in the podcast series is Leslie Norwalk, Deputy Administrator for CMS, as well as Medicare beneficiaries, who will give a first-hand account of the their personal experience with Medicare's drug coverage. Together, Senator Dole, Ms. Norwalk and the beneficiaries will address a variety of topics about the drug benefit that will allow seniors to make educated decisions about enrolling or re-enrolling.

Senator Bob Dole served the people of Kansas for over 35 years as both a member of the United States House of Representatives and as a United States Senator. During his years in the Senate, he served as both Majority and Minority Leader, during which time he influenced many of the health care, Social Security and Medicare debates. During his leadership, he also worked to save Social Security in 1983.

Senator Dole's nationwide speaking tour, from which this podcast is derived, is sponsored by Pfizer Inc.

Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...
The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. In this rush to adopt these new technologies, organizations are often ignoring fundamental questions concerning who owns the data and failing to ask for permission to conduct invasive surveillance of their customers. Organizations that are not transparent about how their systems gather data telemetry without offering shared data ownership risk product rejection, regu...

Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.

Enterprises have taken advantage of IoT to achieve important revenue and cost advantages. What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.
As IoT continues to increase momentum, so does the associated risk. Secure Device Lifecycle Management (DLM) is ranked as one of the most important technology areas of IoT. Driving this trend is the realization that secure support for IoT devices provides companies the ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, secure offerings faster, create new revenue streams, and reduce support costs, all while building a competitive advantage in their markets. In this session, we will use customer use cases...
