Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/l4wj6s/global_storage) has announced the addition of the "Global Storage Software Market 2012-2016" report to their offering.
One of the key factors contributing to this market growth is the increasing consolidation of storage infrastructure. The Global Storage Software market has also been witnessing the collaboration of storage software and hardware solutions. However, the increasing availability of open source storage software solutions could pose a challenge to the growth of this market.
The key vendors dominating this market space are EMC Corp., IBM Corp., NetApp Inc., and Symantec Corp.
The other vendors mentioned in the report are Hitachi Ltd., Microsoft Corp., Dell Inc., and Hewlett Packard Co.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from TechNavio's Data Centers team said: ''Storage hardware solutions are becoming very important among enterprises to support their increasing needs of data storage. The storage software vendors are developing solutions that are specific to the hardware being used for the storage of data. Software solutions are being developed specific to the architecture of the storage infrastructure. This facilitates better optimization of storage space and better management. Enterprises are witnessing a growing trend of bundled hardware and software solutions being provided by the storage vendors for better infrastructure performance.''
According to the report, enterprises have a huge data content being manipulated and used for their business. Traditionally, each server had its own storage space which was attached locally and was used within the local networks. To ensure efficient and optimized usage of storage space, enterprises are now consolidating the storage to a centralized location. Consolidation of storage space also provides centralized management and allocation of available storage space to end-user applications. Storage software has inbuilt storage space management and allocation procedures and is implemented into enterprise storage locations. Further, there is a growing adoption of storage area networks (SAN) into data centers which is driving the Global Storage Software market.
Further, the report reveals that one of the major challenges being faced is the increasing availability of open source storage management software solutions.
