Ingres Corporation, an open source software company announced its acquisition of Thinking Instruments AG, a respected Ingres services provider and reseller headquartered in Ilmenau, Germany. With the acquisition of Thinking Instruments, Ingres immediately broadens its global reach in the important business markets of Germany and the Middle East, as well as expands its revenue base in a profitable manner. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of Thinking Instruments serves as the latest milestone in Ingres Corporation's progress as an independent company," said Terry Garnett, chairman and chief executive officer of Ingres Corp. "Ingres is a global growth company focused on expansion, and Thinking Instruments presents a unique opportunity to add a self-sustaining, service-enhancing capacity to our portfolio."

An Ingres reseller for 13 years, Thinking Instruments brings a wealth of experience with customers using Ingres in the public sector and in various industries, including steel and energy, as well as experience building and servicing Ingres-based applications.

Mr. Dargo additionally emphasized how both Thinking Instruments and Ingres Corporation's customers will benefit from the purchase: "Thinking Instruments' customers now have direct access to Ingres's broader support and services organizations for reliable delivery of critical infrastructure services, and Ingres's customers benefit from Thinking Instruments' application development, geographical and industry-specific expertise," he said.
