CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/15/13 -- NuoDB, Inc., a startup offering the industry's only elastically scalable Cloud Data Management System (CDMS), today announced that AutoZone, the leading retailer and a leading distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories, has selected the NuoDB solution as a key component in their next generation digital signage system.
For more than 30 years, AutoZone has been committed to providing the best parts, prices and customer service in the automotive aftermarket industry. This commitment is backed by an information technology (IT) function that is continually improving their support for its customers through the innovative application of computing solutions.
With over 5,000 retail locations in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Mexico and Brazil, the provisioning and management of up-to-the-minute digital signage is an ongoing challenge. Currently AutoZone IT leverages a traditional open source operational database for managing what signage is located where and what the current signage copy should be. Their goal is to make the entire system less administratively burdensome, and simultaneously guarantee instant accuracy.
About the NuoDB Solution
NuoDB is a complete re-think of relational database with unique support for the Cloud's asynchronous nature. The NuoDB CDMS is:
- 100% SQL
- 100% ACID
- 100% Elastically scalable.
All this in a shared-nothing, distributed architecture that scales elastically, leverages customer's existing SQL expertise and is simple to use.
Supporting Quotes
"The NuoDB CDMS scales easily, requires very little administration and has proved to be resilient to date," stated Ron Griffin, CIO at AutoZone. "The ability to very simply administer information instantly over a significant number of locations is critical for environments that require local data stores. This capability will factor very heavily into our thought process as we proceed with our Next Generation Infrastructure Initiative for AutoZone," said Griffin.
"Given the stature of AutoZone in their industry, and their compelling vision for how the IT function can support high-volume retail transactions, we look forward to helping to enable their customer-focused, 21st century vision," stated Barry Morris, Co-Founder and CEO of NuoDB. "Because NuoDB is elastically scalable and requires near-zero administration, I am confident we will exceed their requirements."
