AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Big data Platform-as-a-Service provider Infochimps (Infochimps.com) today announced the Infochimps Enterprise Cloud, a network of big data-focused data centers and system integrators, which, combined with its big data cloud services, allows enterprises to quickly and simply deploy elastic big data solutions in public, virtual private and private clouds. With a network of data center partners such as Switch, and an emerging group of big data system integrators such as Think Big Analytics, Infochimps is helping large enterprises with large data sets address large challenges. The Infochimps Enterprise Cloud greatly reduces the risk, time-to-value and complexity of enterprise big data projects, allowing companies to focus on answering their most important questions without having to worry about the underlying technology, or make a significant investment of time or capital.

No Migration Required
Infochimps will bring big data computing power to enterprise data, foregoing migration to a public cloud and instead deploying either within a virtual private cloud infrastructure through a network of Tier 4 data center providers, or through a private cloud within the company's own data center.
"Migrating enterprises' enormous volumes of data to the public cloud is slow, expensive and risk-laden -- a major barrier to deriving benefits from big data," said Jim Kaskade, CEO, Infochimps. "The Infochimps Enterprise Cloud allows companies to sidestep this migration, as well as a large upfront investment, and quickly begin enjoying those benefits. At any scale, we reduce the typical 18-24 month project cycles to 30 days."
Infochimps swiftly ties together data from Hadoop, NoSQL, real-time analytics and every other desired source, and seamlessly integrates it with enterprises' existing environment.
Access to a Deep Pool of Managed Services Resources
In addition to eliminating the complexity in big data projects, the Infochimps Enterprise Cloud will enable enterprises to access a wide range of both Infochimps' own managed services and combined offerings from its network of data center providers, each of which operates an ecosystem of cloud services.
"Until now enterprises have been hamstrung by the need to bring their data to the apps -- Infochimps has removed this barrier by creating an ecosystem that enables enterprises to deploy data-driven applications where their data resides, opening the doors to limitless possibilities," said Kaskade.
Technology-neutrality Offers Freedom of Choice, and Freedom from Confusion
Infochimps doesn't require a lock-in to any particular technology (proprietary or open source) -- solutions will be tailored to the needs and preferences of its customers' applications.
"We've worked with the top big data system integrators to tailor services that guarantee fast value from big data technology using our cloud service," said Kaskade. "The Infochimps Enterprise Cloud offers both freedom of choice, and freedom from the confusion of an overabundance of options. The comprehensiveness of the big data offerings within the Infochimps Enterprise Cloud means that enterprises can choose a particular configuration or be as hands-off as they want. Either way, they'll get exactly what they need from their data."
Infochimps' Ironfan, which powers the Infochimps Enterprise Cloud, also provides the core of VMware's Project Serengeti, bringing the speed, availability, resource optimization, elasticity, and secure multi-tenancy of cloud infrastructure to Hadoop. Additionally, Infochimps uses Ironfan to power a version of its cloud service on OpenStack.
