RIDGEFIELD, Conn., Dec. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Apelon, a provider of terminology and data interoperability solutions, and MaestroDev, a provider of DevOps Orchestration and software infrastructure automation, today announced they are working together to assist the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to improve healthcare data sharing and analysis.
Apelon is providing products and consulting expertise in terminology and data standardization and MaestroDev is providing development and operations automation, including a platform on which to build, test and release software. Together Apelon and Maestro are enabling expanded use by the Veterans Health Administration of the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organization (IHTSDO) Workbench, an important emergent open source terminology development tool. The immediate work product of the collaboration will be a new terminology management environment for the VHA.
More specifically, Apelon and MaestroDev are configuring the Workbench to manage local, national, and international terminology standards across VA hospitals nationwide. The challenge of perfecting workflows to achieve requisite productivity and accuracy in a terminology project of this magnitude has been addressed by a synergistic integration of Apelon's terminology experience and MaestroDev's DevOps Orchestration engine.
"Maintaining a better, more standardized terminology environment for the VHA will improve the exchange and analysis of veterans' health information," said Stephen Coady, Apelon's CEO. "We are honored to be entrusted with this work and grateful for previous engagements from several agencies that readied the underpinning of this project."
"Our previous Workbench projects including Kaiser Permanente, the Australian National eHealth Transition Authority and IHTSDO perfectly position us to work with Apelon and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs," said Doug Dennington, MaestroDev CEO. "Automating best practices from DevOps and agile methodologies to provide Continuous Delivery of the Workbench software means that the VHA can improve its internal terminology standardization and interact more effectively with its community partners. That translates to better, more efficient care for veterans."
