TechWeekEurope, leading technology news and advice website, today announced the winners of its first Tech Success Awards, celebrating successful IT projects across seven categories. The judging panel was made up of industry experts: Ian Osborne, Project Director at Intellect; Clive Longbottom, Co-Founder at QuoCirca; Liam Newcombe, Technical Director at Romonet and Peter Judge, TechWeekEurope UK Editor.
The awards celebrate the achievements of those who have successfully implemented innovative IT projects within their organisations. Finalists were whittled down to winners and finalists:
- Best Cloud Project – Winner: Orbian, Finalists: Doner; O2
- Best Efficient / Green Project – Winner: Cadoxton Primary School, Finalists: Veolia Water; Memset
- Best Mobility Project – Winner: Stockport Homes, Finalists: Surrey City Council; Laing O’Rourke
- Best Public Sector Project – Winner: Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust (CHUFT), Finalists: Harrow Council; NHS Institute
- Most Innovative Project – Winner: Jaguar Land Rover, Finalists: Farrell Heyworth; YouGov
There were two categories which didn’t have enough entries to justify giving a prize. “Big Data is not established enough, or its users are keeping their results secret!” said Peter Judge, Editor, TechWeekEurope. “Open Source is very well-established, and we’re aware of great projects – but we didn’t get enough applications in for the award. The other categories battled fiercely and we spent weeks deciding who should make the final few.”
Winners of the Best Mobility Project, Stockport Homes, were delighted: “We feel it’s important that organisations of all sizes and across all sectors have the opportunity to promote, educate and celebrate new technology developments that have impacted them in a positive way. We are naturally delighted that our mobility project has been shortlisted for the Tech Success Awards.”
Intellect, the trade body for the UK’s technology industry supported the Tech Success Awards as main partner. Charles Ward, chief operating officer added: “We were so impressed by the standard of nominations to the Tech Success Awards. We wanted to recognise the most successful tech projects but it’s been so hard to narrow these nominations down to a few finalists, every one of the projects deserved some form of recognition.”
