WSO2, the lean enterprise middleware company, today announced the promotion of Devaka Randeniya to vice president of sales. Devaka first joined WSO2 in 2006 and most recently served as senior director of sales. As vice president, Devaka will build on the central role he has played in growing the adoption of WSO2’s award winning enterprise middleware and cloud platforms by Global 1000 companies worldwide. Additionally, he will expand WSO2’s sales presence across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific. With this promotion, Devaka is relocating to WSO2 headquarters in Palo Alto, CA.
“From the start, our mission has been to deliver solutions that address enterprises’ real-world application development and integration demands,” said Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, WSO2 founder and CEO. “Devaka has been instrumental in enabling us to execute on that vision by working closely with our customers and partners to ensure that they have the technology, services and training to succeed. As our business continues to accelerate, we are well-positioned for the next stage of growth with Devaka at the helm of our sales team and programs.”
Since joining WSO2 in November 2006, Devaka has served as director of business development, director of sales, senior director of sales, and now vice president of sales. He has extensive experience in the financial services, telecom and government sectors. Devaka also has deep expertise working with independent software developers (ISVs) and Web 2.0 companies, and he has played a pivotal role in building strategic partnerships with large system integrators.
“Having joined WSO2 as the very first sales person, I have been in a unique position to witness the significant growth and maturity of the company,” Devaka observed. “During the past seven years, we have been able to acquire an impressive global customer base that complements a world-class technology platform. I'm thrilled to be part of this amazing team that has achieved so much, and I look forward to helping drive WSO2 to its next stage of evolution and successes.”
Prior to joining WSO2, Devaka was a business analyst in the R&D division of Virtusa Inc., a global system integrator company. There he focused on integration middleware and open source technologies. He also was involved in analyst research with Gartner in the Web services technology and open source software markets. Devaka is a professional graduate of the British Computer Society UK, and he has an MBA from University of NorthWest, USA.
