SAN MATEO, Calif., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Laszlo Systems, the original developer of OpenLaszlo, the leading advanced open source platform for building and deploying Ajax applications, has been named as one of the 100 leading innovators in software development by the Software Development (SD) Times. The fourth annual SD Times 100 list, published in the magazine's June 1, 2006 issue, recognizes Laszlo as a winner in the Rich Client category, alongside industry peers such as Google, the Eclipse Foundation, and Ruby on Rails.
"Each year we strive to acknowledge those companies that have helped to significantly advance the software development industry," said David Rubinstein, Editor-in-Chief of SD Times. "When selecting our Rich Client category winners, we were impressed by the number of open source candidates among our nominees. Laszlo Systems' mature platform and established community of contributors made the company stand out - they're certainly one of the industry's driving forces."
The judging committee for the SD Times 100 commended Laszlo for its Ajax development efforts, describing the company as offering "the tools for interface construction that make the Web look like Star Trek computer screens."
"Laszlo Systems is honored to be a recipient of this year's award," said Steve Ciesinski, chairman and CEO at Laszlo. "We're working hard to advance the web as a truly functional application platform, and today's achievement is a testament to the success of our efforts to date."
OpenLaszlo is an open source platform for developing web applications that are as feature-rich and robust as desktop applications, without requiring the installation of any new software. Worldwide adoption of the platform spans virtually all market sectors, including enterprise, government, education and business-to-consumer.
