LONDON, December 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Stephanie Briggs was diagnosed with a brain tumour a day after giving birth. With many women post pregnancy, getting into shape is a priority. For Stephanie the brain tumour removal had left her with double vision and put paid to her driving to the gym. A radical new personal training website for pregnant and post pregnancy mums - bloomingfit.com - enabled Stephanie to regain control of her life.
Alison Merry - ex-midwife and site founder says: "I have been a midwife and personal trainer for 15 years and bloomingfit.com embraces my passion for both professions. Women who are time poor or don't feel like making the trip to the gym can benefit hugely from a personal training website like bloomingfit.com".
Bloomingfit.com offers exercise programmes tailored to each trimester and provides advice on subjects from nutrition to post natal depression. Membership also helps mums along the road to recovery.
Stephanie Briggs says: "I was admitted for 19 hours of surgery five weeks after diagnosis and stayed in Bristol's Frenchay hospital for five weeks. When I went home I was weak - I couldn't even walk up the stairs without help. I'd never been so unfit and overweight. I felt dreadful. I just wanted to get back to normal".
Alison says: "Many mums can't wait to get their bodies back and exercise is key. Because women are extremely vulnerable after having given birth, Bloomingfit.com ensures that this is done safely and effectively. In Stephanie's case she was hell bent on getting in shape because now that she wore an eyepatch she didn't want people feeling sorry for her".
Stephanie says: "The Bloomingfit exercises, although simple, were tough for me but then I suppose I wasn't the average user. They start from scratch, though, and because you can work out any time you tend to get plenty of practice and consequently I was soon doing them with ease".
"In six months I regained more than my pre-pregnancy shape - I looked fitter than I had been in an age and was running too. The added benefit was that exercising really lifted my spirits. You've heard of a vicious circle well I had experienced an upbeat circle where good things fed off one another".
Alison and Stephanie met through a joint business acquaintance when Alison was looking for PR to help promote her site. Because at the time bloomingfit.com was being developed Stephanie was one of the guinea pigs used to help iron out glitches before going live. As a result the website was tried and tested by the time it went to market.
Alison says: "Ideally, women will sign up to the site when they first learn that they are pregnant that way they can do the exercises from 1st Trimester through to post pregnancy. We feel GBP9.99 is good value: there's so much more to the site like shopping, advice, chat rooms and the chance to show off your newborn on the notice-board".
