DARIEN, CT -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/23/05 -- The Board of Directors of the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. voted today to name The Journal of Clinical Hypertension, published by Le Jacq, Ltd., as an official journal of its society.
"The editors of the JCH are pleased to have been selected by the ASH Board of Directors to be an official journal to further the Society's and the Journal's missions to provide unbiased, peer-reviewed, clinically relevant information to a wide audience of practicing physicians treating hypertension and cardiovascular disease," said Marvin Moser, MD, Editor in Chief of the JCH. "The Journal of Clinical Hypertension provides ASH with a strong, clear and focused 'voice' to communicate information regarding current hypertension research and treatment strategies. This high-circulation publication platform will permit the Society to reach and influence a health care-provider audience concerned with the clinical problems of hypertension," said Thomas D. Giles, MD, President of the American Society of Hypertension.
The Journal of Clinical Hypertension is distributed monthly to approximately 44,000 physicians in the United States, including cardiologists, family practitioners and internists, with the primary objective of bridging the "knowledge-practice gap" between researchers and practicing clinicians. The JCH is in its seventh year of continuous publication and is listed in the National Library of Medicine's Index Medicus. The Journal publishes original and review articles, editorials, commentaries, roundtable discussions and special sections devoted to a broad spectrum of clinically relevant material. The Journal's leadership is comprised of a distinguished Editorial Board of national and international leaders in hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Authors from the United States and numerous other countries help disseminate current research findings including those sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the High Blood Pressure Education Program, and other national programs involved in the management of hypertension.
The American Society of Hypertension, Inc. is the pre-eminent United States society devoted exclusively to educating the healthcare professional regarding the diagnosis, treatment and management of hypertension, linking blood pressure and cardiovascular health. This includes related cardiovascular diseases such as the metabolic syndrome, heart failure, diabetes and obesity. The mission of the Society is "to organize and conduct educational activities designed to promote and encourage the development, advancement, and exchange of scientific information in all aspects of research, diagnosis, and treatment of hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases." Currently the society includes more than 4,000 domestic and international members, holds an Annual Scientific Meeting and has numerous active regional chapters around the country.
