Digium® Partner EUS Networks Creates Asterisk®-based Trading Communications Platform

Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced that telephony integration partner EUS Networks has completed and deployed an Asterisk-powered IP telephony solution for trading room floors for a hedge fund client in the asset management industry. The solution includes Digium’s Asterisk Business Edition™, the enterprise-grade version of the popular open source telephony software, and trading turrets from IP Trade Networks.

The new system gives the customer, a hedge fund, advanced call-control functionality, including the call recording capabilities required by Sarbanes-Oxley, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA); disaster recovery; the cost advantages of voice over IP (VoIP); and the ability to keep using existing hardware and phone sets to save money.

Asterisk is the most widely used open source telephony platform and toolkit. Its feature set and standards compliance empower developers and systems integrators to create advanced communication solutions that can be customized to meet the specific needs of a business. Wall Street firms have long been recognized for their work with open source products and technologies because they can be customized in ways that proprietary alternatives cannot and can be highly cost effective. The EUS system delivers these benefits at a fraction of the cost of a turret system that uses proprietary software.

“With the customer’s previous system, the staff of 50 traders fielded nearly 200 calls daily with each trader managing an average of six to eight calls simultaneously,” said Jeronimo Romero, CTO, EUS Networks. “It took one day for EUS Networks to configure the trade turrets over Asterisk and within once month of the deployment, the firm reported reduced operational costs, enhanced customer service and greater employee productivity.”

“Financial services firms are good shoppers—they’re the last to throw money away on expensive technology when there’s an alternative,” said Leslie Conway, vice president of global marketing for Digium. “The solution that EUS created gives their customer all the features of a phone system that would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and saves them additional money by letting them keep phones and other system components that they didn’t want to replace. This sort of application is a great example Asterisk’s ability to add value to an existing telephony infrastructure in a way that delivers fast ROI and that doesn’t require upheaval to the rest of the phone system.”

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...

To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How?
