DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- "Green Magazine TV" produced by WDCC, is a new television series featuring ecology- and energy-conscious companies and organizations. This series will showcase some of the newest and "greenest" technologies being utilized, and is scheduled to be aired as paid programming on the Discovery Channel.
The world will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, 2010. Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March Equinox, which is often March 20, Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. The first Earth Day brought some 20 million Americans out into the spring sunshine for peaceful demonstrations in favor of environmental reform.
Started in 1970 by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson (D-Wisconsin), Earth Day is now observed in 175 countries and coordinated by the non-profit Earth Day Network, according to whom Earth Day is now "the largest secular holiday in the world, celebrated by almost a billion people participating in environmentally focused activities in thousands of places including Kiev, Ukraine; Caracas, Venezuela; Tuvalu; Manila, Philippines; Togo; Madrid, Spain; London and New York." Environmental groups have sought to make Earth Day into a day of action which changes human behavior and provokes policy changes aimed at the sustainability of the Earth and its inhabitants.
"Green Magazine TV" will present a special program commemorating and celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day with a superstar lineup of some of America's "greenest" companies. Look for announcements of the individual participants during the upcoming weeks.
