Today SYS-CON's iPhone Developer Summit finished, on a high, as it started yesterday. It has always been said that good things come in two's!
First to present on Tuesday morning was Todd Schick on the subject of Creating Native-Looking Applications for the iPhone with ASP.NET. Next Travis Siegfried and his co-presenter Jared Scheuer, both from IBM, presented iPhone Development in an Enterprise Environment. After lunch Chris Fleck picked up the presentations with Build Once, Run Anywhere, No Objective C Required with regard to Citrix and finally Paul Croft from the UK presented A New Generation of Connected Games
In the afternoon, I was included in the Industry Power Panel discussion, subject Driving Profitability Through User Experience. Moderated by Jeremy Geelan and recorded for SYS-CON.TV (I will post the link when available).
(Left to Right - Jeremy Geelan, Joe Preston, Regev Yativ, Ian Thain and Eric Bruno).
During this discussion I took the viewpoint of iPhone Development Chair as well as Sybase Technical Evangelist on Mobility and stated that I believe that... Rich Internet Applications are now the norm, and what users expect and require. For mobile developers and users, its becoming... all about the Design & UI. I stated that in previous traditional application development... only 10% of the total project time was spent on design, but now with development on such projects as iPhone applications, the percentage is suggested to increase to 60%. Its just got to look and work righ to get the ROI and therefore increase Profitability.
I also mentioned Sybase's MEAP (Mobile Enterprise Application Platform), the Sybase Unwired Platform - SUP... along with the fact that Sybase are investigating future support of iPhone for SUP

Now it's all over on the East coast and the attendees are travelling home. Thank you all for coming and wishing you safe travels.
